Behrang Mortazavian is an Iranian filmmaker and writer who breaks the boundary between reality and fiction by playing with cinematic conventions and blending genres. His work often unfolds through several equally central characters and explores deception, manipulation, failed relationships, and the fine line between horror and comedy.
He holds a degree in dramatic literature from the Art University of Tehran and brings his background in playwriting and screenwriting into the structure of his films. His two most recent films, Method to My Madness (2024), co-directed with Hoda Hamzehali, and Loser Heroes (2025), are experiments in hybrid genre and formal play. Influenced by Park Chan-wook, Paolo Sorrentino and Michael Haneke, he favors journeys of formal and narrative exploration over conclusive endings.
Method to My Madness has won awards at the Synergy Film Festival, the Feedback Female Film Festival and the Manhattanhenge Film Festival, and screened in competition at the Winter Film Festival in New York. Loser Heroes was selected for the Jaipur International Film Festival in 2026.
